As of Sunday, January 12, 2020, Taal Volcano located in the province of Batangas Erupted. The Eruption status was declared an Alert Level 4 (Alert Level 5 is the highest). Many towns within the provinces of Batangas and Cavite have been evacuated for safety leaving behind their homes and livelihoods fleeing to shelters and churches. Many who are farmers and fishermen lost their crops, livestock and poisoned their fishing grounds. The eruption has also caused earthquakes and tremors to occur destroying infrastructures such as main roads, bridges, buildings and homes. Many of the evacuees who have been exposed to the ash fall will most likely be medically affected and may lead to respiratory illnesses. Many of these Filipinos are below the poverty level and will most likely not be able to afford medicine let alone rebuild their communities that they have been forced to flee from.
